Millions of temp jobs available for post-Irma recovery

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - If you lost your job because of Hurricane Irma, or you’re simply looking for work, CareerSource Tampa Bay and CareerSource Pinellas want to help.

CareerSource is looking to hire 7 million people statewide to help with hurricane recovery. The temporary full-time jobs range from cleaning up debris to helping families qualify for federal help.

They’re funded by federal dislocated worker grants, and the temp jobs pay pretty well too between $11 to $27 an hour.

Juliane Abudi was recently laid off from her job of 10 years, now she’s helping families get emergency post-Irma food stamps.

“We all have a common experience. we all share in what Hurricane Irma did to our lives. We all have that connection so it’s wonderful to help in this way,” Abudi explained.

If you can pass a background check and drug screen, you’re encouraged to apply at CareerSource’s website.

Individuals who qualify for disaster relief employment are people who are temporarily or permanently laid off as a consequence of Hurricane Irma, dislocated workers, and individuals who are long-term unemployed.

For information regarding National Dislocated Worker Grants, visit your local CareerSource Center at http://www.careersourceflorida.com/your-local-team.

In addition to the Dislocated Worker Grants, DEO is also providing the following programs to assist in recovery from Hurricane Irma:

With so much going on in the world of King, it’s easy to miss something — such as the two motion picture adaptations hitting Netflix this fall. Arriving on Netflix this Friday is Gerald’s Game , based on King’s 1992 novel, a psychosexual thriller about BDSM roleplay gone very wrong. Then there’s 1922 , which debuts on Netflix on Oct. 20; i...
